In this post, I’ve discussed why does my cat follow me everywhere so you will know the reason.
Cats are such mysterious and fascinating little creatures. They do things that may seem cute or sometimes even weird, but regardless of that, we still love our furry friends. One of the weird habits some cats have is following their owners around everywhere. Some may find it cute and sweet for such creatures to want their attention that much.

Some may find it quite weird and occasionally annoying especially if the owner is on their laptops doing work and the cat suddenly comes in to sit on their keyboard, or they may knock things over, which can cause a lot of mess in your home. So, why exactly does your cat follow you around? Well, there are some reasons as to why they do so.

Here are some of the probable reasons why your cat follows you:
1. They associate you with food
Is there a situation when you are just sitting in your couch, and the moment you stand up, you cat instantly diverts their attention to you and then follows you when you walk around? A common reason for this is that they associate your action with feeding time. They might think that you’re going to grab something the kitchen and give it to them.
This may be a sign of hunger so make sure you feed them at the right time. But, if they do this almost all the time, then this may be a sign of diabetes or hyperthyroidism which increases their hunger. Make sure to get them checked up by the vet.
2. They’re curious
Ever wonder why there’s such a term as “curiosity killed the cat”? Well, that’s simply just because cats are curious by nature. If they follow you around all the time, then they are probably curious about what you’re up to. Sometimes this may just be because of boredom, and you are their target to get curious on.
3. They are patrolling
Most cats came from wild cats which are known for patrolling their territory by urinating on it or rubbing their bodies on a specific thing or space. If your cat tends to rub himself or herself all over you and follows you all around then, they are probably patrolling.
4. They just want attention
While some cats seem sassy and not seem to care about you a lot, some may be very clingy and always needs attention. If your cat is continually following you around, they probably just want attention. If you’re a busy person, don’t forget to give your cat some of your attention so they won’t feel neglected.
5. They like your companionship
Your cat probably loves you so much and wants to be around you all the time.
6. Call for help
If your cat is following you around while meowing, this may be a sign that your cat needs assistance for he or she might be feeling some kind of discomfort or pain. Pay attention to your cat so that you can help them when they need assistance.
